Ah, it was a good run, Gary

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WXIN) — It isn’t every day someone gets to write their own obituary, let alone one filled with this much wit and humor.

But Gary Wolfelt knew one day he would meet his maker. He had had too many close calls not to see the writing on the wall.

    1. Short version: He flew his airplane into a severe thunderstorm.

    2. That's about the size of it, isn't it?
But on the bright side, he lived life his way and didn't die a lingering death of prostate cancer.

S'cuse me. I've got to get back to writing my obit.

  3. Well Gary you had a good run but all good things come to an end..... Having lived life by your own terms I salute your farewell with a shit for me and one poured onto the ground for you... Be good wherever you end up, don't cause too much trouble and don't forget to laugh often..

Gary sounds like a good - if a bit unlucky - guy.

"First off, I would like to apologize to anyone who I might have offended or mistreated, especially Anoma Hargis in the sixth grade."

I did this. I read an article that asked, "If you knew you would die tonight, what would look back on with satisfaction, and what with regret?" I got back in touch with a girl I knew way back in grade school, to whom I had said a really mean thing, and made her cry. I felt really good about it at the time, but in later years, it was a little itch that I couldn't scratch. I looked her up on the web, called her and apologized. She didn't even remember it, but it was one little regret I crossed off my list. If you have any of these, make it right.
