I saw something like that in Vermont 10-12 yrs ago. A flock of at least 30 Canada geese, lined up in column of twos, being led by a big "Lord Mayor" gander. All he needed was a grey silk topper and a watch chain across his belly. He was leading them towards an indoor soccer field where a dog show was underway. I was not able to stick around to see the hilarity ensue.

It's great that such traditions exist! That was, definitely, a mood elevator.
