The Patriot Act: America’s Trojan horse for tyranny

When the smoke was still rising from the rubble of the Twin Towers, the American people were reeling, grieving—and vulnerable. That vulnerability was weaponized. In one of the most cunning bait-and-switch maneuvers in modern history, our government handed us the Patriot Act—an Orwellian surveillance framework disguised as national defense.

We didn’t just get conned—we got conquered. Not by terrorists from abroad, but by tyrants in suits.

  1. Funny how that legislation was already written up and ready to go immediately after 9/11, isn't it?

  3. And Surprise Surprise, It was the Repubtards that did it. Had the legislation already written and ready to go. Funny how that happens isn't it. And yet the right just MUST vote harder for them every year. And now the MAGE Messiah's HSA is setting up a one stop spying system to make it easier for the various .GOV agencies to spy on us using commercial spy info sources to get around that pesky little bit of toilet Paper formerly called a Constitution?

    1. back in the early 1980's I got a chance to see inside the NSA. had friend that worked there. what I saw back then was enough to scare the shit out of me.
they where tapped into MA bell bigtime.
funny thing, I had a intel guy tell me that the only "safe " computer was one still in the box. not plug into anything. he didn't even trust power cords !
and in the 1990's when people started to bank "online", he told me it was going to cost millions if not billons in "lost" money. or do not set up or do any online banking by the 2000's he said the sheer amount of money "lost" online would scare the shit out of me. and banks keep that quiet. but it is a lot.
if I wanted to keep my money, never bank online.. funny isn't it ? dave in pa.

  8. This is what C. S. Lewis (the movie Chronicles Of Narnia was based on one of his books) was talking about in these two quotes :

“... The greatest evil is not now done in those sordid "dens of crime" that Dickens loved to paint.    It is not done even in concentration camps and labour camps.    In those we see its final result.   But it is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voices.    Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern..."

"... Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.  It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.   The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience..."

  9. I remember that they passed the absurdly titled USA Freedom Act with what at the time seemed to be called a reigning in of the worst parts of the Patriot Act. Of course we all know that is always a bunch of horse crap, and that like most laws infringing on our freedom once passed, it is not only unlikely, but actually impossible for them to suddenly get a conscience and back track.
I looked it up and while the USA Freedom Act was supposed to sunset in 2020 and was not reauthorized, parts of the Patriot Act are still in effect. But it is pretty much at this point a matter of semantics, since once that gate was opened, it could no longer be closed. Just because they said that they were going to stop invading Americans privacy doesn't mean that they ever will.
An off topic note, my wife and I saw a Tesla truck today in our small little city on the eastern side of Lake Michigan. They are ugly, and I would never want one. I once saw a Delorean, and while they were also a radical departure from normal, they at least had some kind of style, even if they were a failure.

  10. When Trump regained his rightful spot as President, weren't we promised the truth on the JFK/RFK/ and King assassinations, Epstein, and 9/11. IMO the assassination truth is way beyond its shelf date, but the one that really pisses me off is 9/11. How many here believe towelheads were responsible for flying huge jumbo jets into buildings, AND how many believe Saddam Hussein had anything to do with it?
IMO we need to clean up history down to the bare truth and throw the bastards who lied to us (in order to take control with the "Patriot" act).

    1. When I got back from my rotation to Bosnia we had a new E-5 from the 10th MTN on the first plane into Uzbekistan because sappers lead the way.

They were all locked-n-cocked-n-ready to rock coming down the tail ramp when the half-dozen guys in ties told them to calm down, they'd been getting the airport ready for 6 months.

Guys in ties have really good Magic 8 Balls.

  11. The attacks on 9/11 were perpetrated so that The Patriot Act could be enacted.
