looking back, my old dog jack helped my kids to walk/run when they where that size/age. at first, they held on to his fur to walk across the room. later on, they where running after him around the house. and outside of the house, he kept them in the yard. used to find dead snakes around the yard ( eastern Kansas). jack killed any snakes that tried to get in the yard. never where the kids played, but on the edges like. Jack was really good with kids. a great hunting dog too. not bad for a 20 dollar pound hound. still have a picture of him with the kids on the wall here. and that was close to 40 years ago now. dave in pa.
