Then and Now: The Most Unforgettable Photos from WWII

I really enjoy these Then and Now slideshows, probably because I used to do the exact same thing with mining camps and sites. I'd see a photo in a book, then I'd go up into the hills and try to find the exact spot it was taken from and take one of my own for comparison. They'd never be exactly the same due to differences in lenses and medium, but it was close enough for government work.
It had its share of aggravation though - I can't tell you how many times I'd drive 4 hours over to the east slope of the Sierras, find some mining camp that's been deserted since 1877, then take pictures only to find out after I got them back from the developer that I had thoroughly fucked them up somehow. Of course that just gave me an excuse to make the same trip on my next day off.
