My dog loved to be outside. If the weather was nice, I'd let him stay out while I was at work. He was old and wouldn't go far. One evening I got home and no sign of him. Looked around, figured he'd decided to wander off and die. Three months later I get a call. Someone spotted him on the web page for the local shelter. I went to claim him and was told he'd been picked up previously and claimed by another family and even though he responded to me they were listed as his owners. They asked me for proof. I went home and found about a dozen pics and videos of him going back to when we first got him confirming his ownership. The people who had him had stayed with me when covid hit. He was a traveling construction worker and after they left, his wife came back and stole him. They got charged with theft and since he was a purebred, it was a felony. She posted bail and moved to California.
