  2. Goodnight, Oliver Loving and Bose Ikard were the no-shit, real deal and to me their lives were a hell of a lot more interesting than that wet-dream fantasy concocted by Larry McMurtry based on them. Loving and Ikard are buried in the same cemetery in Weatherford, and the monument erected by Goodnight upon Ikard's death is instructive. Charles and Molly's house is available for tour at the Goodnight museum in whats left of the town of Goodnight not far east of Amarillo where he is buried in the family plot. There's a short clip in the video of the chain link fence around the plot, showing bandanas and gimme caps that Cowfolk tie into the links in remembrance. It is not a bad way to be remembered, when you think about it. But they say behind every strong man was a strong woman, and it was Molly who goaded Charles into saving orphaned buffalo calves that grew into the herd.
