  2. I have been chased by gangs of young turkeys. They won't hurt you, just showing you who is boss to attract the lady turkeys.
Hmm, may have happened to me once with a group of young men as well.

  3. My neighbor down the road had three tom turkeys and watch turkeys and no one and I mean no one would get out of a vehicle without having him come out and stand them off. Mean bastards and very territorial. His wife finally had enough and the toms ended up in the freezer.

  4. I've had hundreds, if not thousands of turkeys wander through my place in the past. They tend to roost in a big school-marmed Ponderosa on my neighbor's property. I've never shown any aggression towards them, and they've never been a bit of a problem to me. Sure, you've got to watch where you step, because their fresh scat is stinky, but other than that I don't get the big kerfuffle regarding their presence on your property. Just like most wild critters, you leave them alone, they'll leave you alone.

I kind of like them because they're an early warning system when the garbage man is coming. They like to gobble when they hear him coming, which lets me know when it's time to go fetch the totes from the county road and bring them home.
    Thanks, Toms.

  5. We don't have wild turkeys down here but they would have been in a pot or roaster before you could count to 10 if they tried that.

  7. Somewhere on the internet there's a picture of where a repair tech took the cover off an air conditioning unit and there were a couple of possums in it. Even if it was my air conditioning unit there would be a few holes through it. And a couple of possums spread out through the interior of it.

What job was the turkey doing and why did he need a lift? How did he let the man know where to go? It is the missing details like that that annoy.

  10. Wild turkey eggs make a delicious omelet or scrambled eggs. Not kidding. Can't say about over-easy or such-like because I don't eat eggs those ways.

We're infested with the damn things here but never saw an aggressive one. Maybe that's because I BB-gun them anytime they get close to the patio and walkways where they like to poop. Wife's got quite good with the BB-gun, too. And I have been known to chase them around with the riding lawn mower. Great fun. Colon there ought to give those methods a try.
