Got it in one. The MechE would have that toy in a thousand pieces....and then reassemble it so the ducks went UP the slide and DOWN the stairs! I know- I'm a MechE and from age 3 to about 13 no toy survived.... common story at school. "What was the most fun thing you ever took apart?"
Anon, My brother the same. Anything he was given he took apart. When little he used to say, "I wanted to know what made it tick." My father always said he got his early learning by taking every damn tool he owned apart.
