I had an Exxon garage for years and had a guy working for me that would weld on gas tanks. But first he would take out the tank, remove the sender, and jam one of our exhaust hoses into it and run the tow truck exhaust through it for a while. Then he would put the tank on the far side of the RC machine and reach around the corner with the torch and sorta wave it back and forth across the fill neck, just to make sure.
He only blew one up, and fortunately didn't lose the arm, just a bunch of stiches.
Fuel storage facility near where I grew up had a leak. They flooded the tank then added a detergent that was supposed to neutralise gasoline. Drained, atmospheric checks, the whole nine yards. Welder went in to do the repair, touched the rod and Boom! He was dismembered, the top blown off the tank. I remember driving by and seeing what was left. I was probably five at the time.
He's filming it and is fixated with the view finder rather than the bigger picture. Photographers have been killed doing that at motor racing events where they film the car etc... that hits them.
The boat was following the boat in front, riding in it's wake & caught it just right & it hooked & threw it into a hard turn. V bottoms are notorious for that.
Have a friend that his dad was doing repair work in the oilfield .... Back around 1984-85 he was on a production platform to repair a riser stack... The risers were for natural gas and was certified and tagged out as being gas freed and tested... When Mr Allen popped a hole in a riser to begin cutting it out it blew.. He was thrown off his scaffolding and into the gulf about 90 feet below.. He lived but suffered severe burns on something like 80% of his body.. He collected a big fat check that they proceeded to blow on stupid shit.. JD

Had the fuel line on my VW pop the line off below the fuel pump while running down the road at 60mph one morning. First clue I had that something was wrong was when I saw smoke coming up over the back seat, heh. And number 10 is why a racing bike should have a kill switch attached to the rider.
#1, Close friend, his brother died doing just that. Farm situation, large tank. Friend came home from high school to find his older brother dead on the ground, minus his head.
Airbag deployed waaay after the crash. I’ve worked several accidents where the airbags deployed after the crash. Usually causing more severe injuries than the crash did. First rule of thumb at a crash site is pop a battery cable off as soon as you safely can.
