    1. You're just reading the signs wrong.
      Those are monthly payments!

    2. Yeah, it's like seeing pictures, film or a TV show from the 60's and 70's (or even 80's) where a gas station sign giving the prices is visible. To think it used to be well under a dollar a gallon, even within my lifetime, almost seems like a false memory at this point.

    3. I give the kid across the street $20 and he brings his own mower.

  2. #20. The correct phrase is "Mustn't Grumble". But yes, you are correct, free speech is under serious threat here.

  5. #18 You are still free to enjoy your $3 taco with a smoke just do it outside. The only difference is that I don't HAVE to enjoy YOUR cigarette with my $3 taco

#19 About as useless as all those lifted trucks with oversized wheels, low-profile tires, and extra bling you see out there.

#1 as much as I hate those 3, are we supposed to be FOR oligarchs? I mean the definition of oligarch is: a very rich business leader with a great deal of political influence.
To me that means Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Peter Theil, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Tim Cook, George Soros, Larry Ellison and all the other guys tat buy and sell politicians on a weekly basis. I for one I'm not for any of those names.
You know what they say bout broke clocks.

    1. #18 You do realize you could've eaten your 3 dollar Taco Bell outside as well to avoid the smoke, right?

      #19 Agreed.

      #1 It's a meme. A fucking meme.....

    2. Not far off:
The word oligarch has Greek roots, and comes from oligoi for "few” and arkhein "to rule." When a country is ruled by an oligarchy, power isn't in the hands of one person (like a monarchy) or the people (like a democracy) but a small group of people. An oligarch can be a member of the nobility or a wealthy person. People often say a democracy has oligarchs when rich people appear to have too much influence on a country.

  9. Re #19 - Then there's the city Daniel Boone : I know a guy with a heavy-duty pickup, complete with spray bedliner, toolbox, cattle guard, skidplate, winches front and rear, etc.
who won't drive through tinky little puddles for fear of getting his truck all dirty.
Correction : I used to know him.

  10. #9 - The Tallahatchie is in The Delta, where land is flat as a pancake. That's likely a high bridge there. A frat brother's family owned the Carroll County Picture Show building in North Carrollton.

  15. #5 it's not just radioactive shrimp. it's multiple shipping containers at multiple ports, all testing for the radioactive element cesium 137. the shrimp just happened to end up in one of those containers.

the question is why are multiple containers at multiple ports testing positive for radioactivity of the same exact type...and how long were they contaminated for?

  16. #2 Is partly due to the performance increases in hardware, which have have enabled a bunch of lazy, optimized code. UE5 also carries its frame stuttering bugs and performance issues over into most games made on. The main course of sloppy code came when DLSS and upscalers became a magic bandaid for poor performance and buggy, unoptomized code.

I'm holding off on building a new rig for another hardware 2-3 generations so hardware overpowers sloppy code and comes down from its absurd pricing. It's getting ever more difficult to find a normal, inexpensive motherboard that isn't bloated in feature creep.

    1. According to my history teacher, it was something like a modern toilet brush, kept in flowing water, to keep it, ahem, clean, between uses. Swab 'n go!
