I was in Green County by gosh Virginny one day talking to a good ol boy. I asked him how many DUI's he had. He said, Well, I got eight that I know of. That was Haineys, sp, on Rt 33 which closed years ago. I think it became the Massanutten Sandwich Shop or something like that.
Enforcement is so lax that one might consider why obey any law at all. The law representing the straight and narrow, the violations thereof, unpunished, so commonplace, other than one's morals, why not let loose to run in the fray?
W. C. Fields made a movie about punishing the offenders. Playing a wealthy man, he'd drive around running drunk drivers off the road.
However, I will not forget for all my days that twice I had been hit by drunk drivers. And the local judge who had acquired seven DUIs in less than three years. The seventh killing a young girl riding her bicycle.
