  6. My favorite cat offering story is my Aunts. She had a cat that could not only tell the differences between species of rodents and small animals, but could also reliably count up to seven.

    You see, every day it would leave an offering in front of her door. One white-footed field mouse. If she picked it up and tossed it, the next day it would be two white-footed field mice. And then three, etc. until she got confused at seven and left 7 to 9 of them.

    But if she picked it up, petted her and told her she was a good kitty, the next day she'd switch to a different species. Shrews, a different type of mouse, rats, etc. So with a bit of management she was able to target her cat's pest elimination efforts towards the most troublesome types.
