"U.S. Air Force Combat Photography" in Vietnam (1968)

This film explores the role of Air Force combat cameras and crews during the Vietnam War. Beginning with a short history of war art and photography, it leads up to the 1960s and problems caused by the speed of jets. It also details daily jobs related to combat film, such as editing and assessing photos in the lab.

By 1968, U.S. Air Force combat photographers in Vietnam documented the war through still and motion pictures, often in high-risk aerial missions and on the ground.

  1. I am pleased all this was recorded. I also understand the significance in improving tactics by watching film. However, I pulled a patrol and an ambush or LP damn near every day/night. I've been on company and battalion sweeps and participated in five major operations in 68/69. I never saw a cameraman where I was so a lot of the Viet Nam war was not filmed. It appears the cameramen of WWI, II and Korea were in the heat of it at times.

  2. I remember nightly news body counts. Weird when you think about it. They did the same thing with covid.
