How, um, convenient.

Three "accidents" in one day at a critical time in the gun debate?  And at least some gun shows ask people to unload before entry.  Did none of the three shows below do that?  Some Brady fanatics might be prepared to take a non-lethal bullet in aid of their cause.  -RJIII

At gun shows in Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina, a total of five people were injured Saturday in accidental shootings as people flocked to the events on what was marketed as Gun Appreciation Day.

In Ohio, Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci said a 62-year-old man was shot in the arm when his friend, a firearms dealer, accidentally discharged the gun he had purchased from an attendee.

The man was taken to a local Ohio hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his arm and leg. Berarducci said the man will probably stay in the hospital overnight, but described him as in “good spirits.”

Berarducci told the Los Angeles Times that the gun show at the county fairgrounds was so busy that police had to limit the number of people entering.

Meanwhile, in Indianapolis, a man at the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show shot his hand as he unloaded a .45-caliber semiautomatic, the Associated Press said.

Three people were also injured at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, N.C., when a 12-gauge shotgun filled with bird shot accidentally discharged, authorities said.

Accidental discharges at gun shows are so rare that they are newsworthy every time they happen - I don't have the best memory in the world but I can only recall one other incident - and all of a sudden there's THREE in one day?
Yeah. Uh-huh. You bet. But I bet the Brady Foundation was heartbroken when none of the 'accidental discharges' didn't turn into a full blown firefight with all those crazed gun owners returning fire.

  1. It is very odd. Most gun shows I have been to actually chamber check at the gate and signs are posted. I bet the gun control hobos were sad no one was killed......

  2. I call BULLSHIT. Someone must be attempting to go out of their way to make it look like ALL gun shows & gun owners are unsafe. I have been to multiple gun shows and NO ONE was injured because the FUCKING weapon is brought in UNLOADED with an open breech. That's it, we can't allow the STUPID PUBLIC to own guns because they will hurt themselves!

FUCK YOU, you ignorant bastards. I have owned a gun since I was nine years young and have yet to shoot myself or any one else. It is my guess, some stupid liberal dumbass bastard visited their first gun show.

  3. I don't think I've ever been to a gun show anywhere that there wasn't a chamber check at the gate as well as signs.

  4. Oh thank God. I was beginning to believe the "batshit crazy conspiracy theorist" label I've been getting.

  5. It just doesn't make any sense. It must be staged.

Personally, I wonder how many people lost their lives to day in pool drownings or car crashes.

Surely its the loss of life we care about so much?

  6. I went to my first show in about '78. I've been to hundreds, all over the country, in the decades since. In that time, I have been present for one - count them, ONE - negligent discharge. The odds of multiples on the same day (not even just the same weekend)? My calculator doesn't go that high...

  7. My only accidental discharge resulted in my wife becoming pregnant!

  8. Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence...

  9. First and only time I've seen this happen was about a month ago. A dealer was working the action on a pump shotgun he'd recently picked up in which it wouldn't always eject the shells. Instead of snap caps he was using live rounds and...BOOM. Birdshot into the floor and base of the wall next to his table. This was before the doors opened to the public, so only the vendors knew...and they didn't talk about it out of embarrassment for the old gent.

With the size and increased throughput of people at the shows, the likelihood of the rogue dumbass getting through will increase as well. Where we may not have heard of it before, you can bet the libtards will make sure everyone hears about it now.

  10. I know the Brady's are probably pissed because none of the people who were hurt were children.

  11. Yeah, I'm calling bullshit on this. In my entire life I've heard of one accidental discharge at a gun show, and that was by a Sheriff's deputy unfamiliar with a Beretta Tomcat. Dumbass racked the slide and since nothing popped out he assumed it was unloaded and casually pulled the trigger to drop the hammer. Thank God no one was hurt, but still.

For three such incidents to occur on the same day, at a time like this seems just a bit more than coincidence.

  12. Been to a quite few gun and outdoorsman type shows. This shit doesn't pass the smell test.

Keep a tight topknot guys and gals, and the wind to your back, we have some ugly years ahead.

  13. So glad to see that I'm not the only one smelling a rat here.

  14. I made a comment to my wife that those stories are bullshit.

I've only been to a couple of gun shows in my life, but like others have said, they check any weapons at the door and I even seen zip-ties used to lock breech open.

I've been shooting firearms since I was 5 or 6 years old and have never experienced an ND.
