A picture truly is worth a thousand words

This picture struck me as soon as I saw it. He's happy that he has a new pair of shoes, and today's kids have closets full of $100+ sneakers, they have the latest cell phones and everything else that Daddy can (and will) buy them.
No doubt that the kid in the photo worked his ass off later in life for everything that he had and valued it because it came from the sweat of his brow, whereas today's kids hold nothing dear because it was given to them.
Is there any wonder why America is in a decline?

  2. God, that looks just like a pic of my dad and his older brother back in the 40s. It was Christmas, they were living in California, and Poppy had gotten a new coat for the first time in his life. Up until he was 5, he'd always worn his brother's patched-up hand-me-downs. The look on his face was pure joy, and the look on Uncle Tommy's face was disgust. Siblings.

  5. I try and provide as much stuff as I can for my kiddos. However, if they fail to take care of it, it becomes mine or we take it and I make them donate it to charity. I'm trying to make them appriciate the things they have and if they don't take care of the items or do what they are supposed to do then they start to loose property. What I've got is the older two can be taken anywhere and behave. The 5 yr old is still a work in progress but is doing better. Mine allways say yes sir or mam and no sir or mam and never accept anything from any one with our a thank you. All requests must end with please. The wife and I are trying to teach them humility and respect for self as well as what we are blessed to have.

  7. If things go the way the Central Bankers and the one world planners go, this type of event may very well happen again here in the good old USA.

  8. My mother told me a story that came out of the race riots in Harlem during WWII.

The Russians got a hold of some of the newsreels in it and tried to show them to the proles to show how lousy life was in Amerika.

    The proles rioted.

    Why?

Because, in Amerika, even black people had shoes!

We don't know how good we have it most of the time.

  9. My Dad told me that if I wanted a car then I had to get a job, which I gladly did. Best thing ever. That taught me the value of work, the value of things, and appreciation for the things I have...

  10. The kids growing up and having everything given to them will fade away and their kids will be hard working SOB's because if they want want mommy and daddy had, given to them of course, they will have to earn it since mommy and daddy never learned how to.
