Well then, y'all would be fucked

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California has evacuation plans for earthquakes, floods, mudslides and, of course, wildfires, but what if one of those disasters occurs as the state is dealing with the coronavirus outbreak when everyone is being urged to stay home?

State and local officials are trying to figure that out.

  2. It would be an added burden, but less than it would be in another state. Someone speculated that California's virus response has been so successful because it has plans for so many other scenarios. And that Californians have responded so well because, having gone through emergencies before, even the clueless ones are better prepped than their counterparts in other states. One example is face masks. Many had some in stock because they were needed during wildfire season to filter out smoke.

Living in a clusterfuck state sometimes works to your advantage.

  3. Yup. When I was in the state reserve in northern California, we ran a CPX scenario that was based on a major earthquake. When I was asked what we should do first, my half-joking reply was "Blow the bridges at Antioch, Benecia, and Carquinez.

  5. Who says Cali is responding more successfully than other places? Them? It's like China saying how well they've handled it. Other than the press volunteering for the job, they report what the State tells them to. The dems are looking for a replacement candidate, and it doesn't really look like Cuomo wants the job, so Newsom is next, and needs puffed up a bit.
