SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — A man released early from county jail under California's $0 bail order was rearrested Tuesday, officials said. The order took effect Monday.

Sheriff Pat Withrow said 33-year-old Jason Gaul, who's had four prior conviction, was taken into custody a fifth time for stealing vehicles on Friday and then released Monday due to the order. Gaul was on probation at the time.

8 year old murder victim's killer arrested

Y'all may recall that a couple weeks ago I posted a story about a little girl that was stabbed to death by a man described by her 12 year old brother as a tall hispanic male in a town near where I'm living now.
Now the family has suffered a double tragedy - They arrested the brother yesterday.

VALLEY SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have arrested the 12-year-old brother of an 8-year-old girl who was mysteriously stabbed at her home in a rural Northern California community last month.

The boy, who was not identified, will be charged with homicide, Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz told reporters Saturday night.

The April 27 attack on Leila Fowler shook the tightknit Valley Springs community of about 7,400 people and set off a massive manhunt.

The boy had told police he found his sister's body and encountered an intruder in the home while their parents were at a Little League game. He described the man as being tall with long gray hair.

I swear by all that's Holy, this is an actual letter to the editor in the local smut sheet this morning. I damned near choked on my ham sandwich when I read it.
And no, this was not a parody letter, I've seen similar drivel from the leftist author before.
Pay particular attention to the first sentence in the 3rd paragraph.

As a part-time writer and author I've always thought it important to check my facts before publication. From reading letters to The Bee, it appears that some writers do not share this concern. A recent contribution, written by a gun owner opposed to gun control, repeats the claim that Adolf Hitler bragged that with full gun registration in Germany "the world would follow." 

Unfortunately, the statement, usually cited as being made in 1935, is total fantasy — there was no German gun registration law passed in 1935. The gun control laws that existed in Germany were put in place at the end of World War I, prior to the Nazi takeover (these laws were passed to keep guns out of the hands of Communists and, ironically, Nazis).

Under Hitler, previous gun restrictions were lifted for everyone except Jews. As has been said, "you are entitled to your own opinions but you are not entitled to your own 'facts.' " Given the emotional nature of the gun debate, facts should be cited in support of a particular position, not made-up and fictional nonsense.

A California couple had their five-month-old baby “snatched” by police after they took the infant to get a second opinion on a medical procedure, they claim.
Anna and Alex Nikolayev are described as loving parents who took their baby, who has a heart murmur, to Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento when he started exhibiting flu-like symptoms.

The family has undergone plenty of doctor visits in the last five months for the their son’s heart, and were unsettled by the treatment he was receiving. At one point, Anna says, a nurse came in and started giving the baby, named Sammy, medicine. When she asked what it was the nurse allegedly replied, “I don’t know.”
“I’m like, you’re working as a nurse, and you don’t even know what to give to my baby…?” Anna said in an interview with ABC’s local affiliate, News10/KXTV. They later found out that medicine was antibiotics, which Anna claims the doctor told her Sammy shouldn’t have received.

After doctors started discussing heart surgery, the Nikolayevs decided they wanted a second opinion. They weren’t categorically opposed to the procedure, but they wanted a different doctor. “If we got the one mistake after another, I don’t want to have my baby have surgery in the hospital where I don’t feel safe,” Anna explained.

Damn. I forgot it was Earth Day.

So in the spirit of things, here's a post about the California Tire Fires.

In August of 1998, about 7,000,000 of them caught fire at an illegal tire dump and burned just south of Tracy where I work. Don't ask me how somebody can store 7,000,000 tires illegally. I don't know.

See where that big ass plume of smoke takes a left turn? Right below that is where the warehouse that I work at is located. It burned for quite a while, about 2 years but eventually burned itself out.

And then a little over a year later while this one was still smoldering, another 7,000,000 of them motherfuckers burned when a lightning strike ignited them back in 1999 near Westley, just a few miles to the south.
They had been collecting since the 1950s when this guy named Ed Filbin started piling them up in a canyon on his property thinking that someday they'd be worth big bucks.

Let me tell you what, it took a fucking year after they were out to get the smell out of my nose.
It took damned near forever for them to get the Westley fire under control - melted burning rubber was running under other stacks, igniting them and so on. You can see in the video below the area is in the hills, nothing but grasslands and is pretty much inaccessible - there ain't no fucking roads and damned little water in the area which ain't the best thing to fight a rubber fire with anyways, but them thar hills were fucking dry, man. We hadn't seen a drop of rain in months and months, so basically all they did was contain it. The fucking county and state finally hire out the job to some outfit out of Texas about a week later and it takes them about 3 weeks to put it out, biting off one chunk at a time and foaming it.

Yeah, so anyways when they finally got that fucker put out, not only did millions of tons of particulate matter get spewed into the air (and our lungs) but the fucking ground underneath was ruined for good. All those chemicals just soaked into the ground.
