Why you shouldn't play in traffic

The driver of a white BMW plowed through a group of demonstrators in Hollywood Sunday, injuring two people.

Video posted to social media shows the hit-and-run at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.

  1. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

They're screaming about him injuring the protestors. What if the protestors' actions hurt someone trying to drive themselves to the hospital?

Many many years ago I watched the movie "Gandhi" with my parents. Afterwards my father said something like "The only reason non-violence worked here was that the English were a good people who could be shamed".

The same applies here. The only reason these traffic-blocking protests work is that we, in general, are a good people who don't want to hurt others. Sooner or later those strictures will fall, especially if the protestors up the ante and start attacking "good people" who are parked - as they have, spottily, done already.

When people grasp that they could be given the Reginald Denny treatment, run-overs of protestors will become more frequent. And IMHO it will mean the protestors do more aggressive protests, and the cycle will accelerate.

Indeed. I remember friends gushing about "nonviolent protest" after seeing Gandhi. My reply of "how do you think that would have turned out if it had been the SS instead of the Brits?" was not well received.

  2. No video. Funny how blocking a road has become a "right" to some morons. The proper way to handle it would have been to lay on the horn, downshift, and take the least bumpy route. Stopping for a riot/demonstration can get you killed.

  3. They expect people to stop so they can get the Reginald Denney treatment ? Hell no. If anything the BMW driver was overly gentle with them. But seriously, the most prudent thing to do if you see a bunch of asswipes blocking the road ahead is to do a U-turn and find a different way to get where you're going. Not as satisfying as nudging them out of the way with your bumper but in the long run less likely to lead to bad outcomes.

  5. Is it still called a hit & run when you smoke rubber backing it up to roll over the bastards again, and leap out and finish the last few off with a tire lever and the contents of the spare fuel can? Asking for a friend...

  6. Playing in the street can and will be a dangerous game because you will lose every time. Remember Reginald Denny stopped his truck to help people that tried to kill him. Dont be Reginald. At one time we we wanted to look out for each other but that idea was intentionally killed during the reign of Barry Sorento.

  7. Funny, they think that they can do what they want, but we can't?
    Fatal mistake, shitheads. Fatal mistake.
You fuckers set the rules, don't get pissed when we play better than you.
We're playing for keeps. This ain't no game.

  8. I wish the fed would step in on the interstate's. The new law should read Any protester who blocks an Interstate Highway and get hit by a vehicle while doing so will be held liable for damage to the vehicle that hits them. The driver of the vehicle will NOT face any charges for any reason.

  9. whatever a protester does, a protester should not attempt to block access at a military base. the conflict resolution that will happen will be done in a forthright military manner; probably without firearms but with efficiency and dispatch. There is a reason why the access control points are always inside the military reservation property line and adorned with warnings about "lethal force WILL be used" on placards displaying the appropriate USCode.

  10. According to a spokes-model for the rioters, the people in the vehicle are guilty of 'a hate crime'.

As in 'I would hate to get treated like Reginald Denny'.
