Gold's Gym has become synonymous with the Hollywood Dream.
Set just a few hundred yards from the ocean in sun-kissed Venice Beach, Los Angeles, Gold's was the backdrop for Pumping Iron, the 1977 documentary which followed a young, unknown Austrian bodybuilder called Arnold Schwarzenegger as he prepared for the Mr Universe contest.
The film turned him into an overnight sensation. He would go on to become a global superstar, marry a member of the Kennedy clan, and become Governor of California.
Yet today Gold's sits amid post-apocalyptic scenes which have consumed much of LA, turning the City of Dreams into an urban nightmare from which people are fleeing in droves.

Those folks who allowed that area to turn into what it is are leaving and heading to your area, looking for a place that is not screwed up yet. I wonder how long it will take them to remake their new areas?

A minor correction to the article:
ReplyDeleteGeorge Floyd did not "...die at the hands of three white [sic] police officers...".
George Floyd was a suicide.
He chose to suicide through a massive overdose of illegal drugs while committing crimes against his neighbors and his community.
The eight-minute video of his detention shows police and at least five paramedics attempting to stabilize him during a cardiac event prior to transport to a hospital.
We all saw the video, if they had tossed him the back of the car this would not be happening.
DeleteAfter reading the article, it looks like LA's problems are headed to Nashville next. It will be following the people fleeing LA. They will continue to vote for the same stuff that has caused the very problems they are leaving behind.
