Sportsman's Warehouse Holdings Inc. has purchased the Field & Stream store in Millcreek Township and will begin operating under the new name on Oct. 16.
An employee at the local store confirmed that the location, in the Millcreek Marketplace at 2705 Interchange Road, will continue under its current format until 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and will reopen on Oct. 16.
It wasn't too long ago that Sportsman's Warehouse was in bankruptcy, themselves. Now they are buying up troubled assets of other companies. Good on them!
A prime example of why not to imply your customers are a bunch of gun toting hillbillies. It's true, some of us are but we can all choose where to spend our cash that we make from 'shine, shooting and selling our sisters. So screw you Dicks.
I think this may have more to do with Bass Pro buying out and absorbing Cabela's, thereby becoming the dominant player in the sportsman's megastore marketplace. Dick's had to decide to either step up their game or get out of it. Hard to step up your game in the outdoors market when you're anti-gun and your customer base is pissed off at you. I hope Sportsman's Warehouse is able to buy out the entire brand from Dick's and counterbalance Bass Pro's domination. But another part of me wants to see Dick's fail completely and miserably.
At least Sportsman's Warehouse will let me in their store without a face diaper. Cabela's said no way, no how, unless I show them a note from my doctor. I told them to kiss my ass, that there wasn't a thing they sold that I couldn't buy somewhere else, and usually at a better price.
After having spent a small fortune at Cabela's over the years, Sportsman's Warehouse gets all that, now.
No, it isn't about BPS/Cabela's. It's about the Dick's CEO/controlling stockholder's political aspirations as a Democrat. He is taking his company out of the evil gun business. I worked at an F&S when they dropped ARs and all semiauto rifles overnight. The political decision severely hurt the F&S business in all departments and the only way to get the company's capital out of the original 27 stores was to sell them as going concerns.

ReplyDeleteThey also bought Tapco from Remington, recently.
Dick's should change their name to Prick's.
ReplyDeleteThat wouldn't have happened to them if they hadn't been, well, Dick's.
ReplyDeleteLocally, Dick's doesn't even sell BB guns anymore.

ReplyDeleteThe Dick's here in town closed down. That probably bothered all six of their customers.
ReplyDeleteJust another big box store putting the screws to locally owned shops.
ReplyDeleteAnd, the manufacturers are right in there assisting with the screwing.

ReplyDeleteI am the least political person you could meet.
ReplyDeleteI have zero-zero-zero interest in politics or politicians.
Accordingly, I am a 'single-issue' voter.
My issue happens to be FREEDOM.
Firearms are a part of this.
