The Unapologetic Bias of the American Left Today - VDH

Some yearn for the ancient monopolistic days of network news, the adolescent years of public radio and TV, and the still reputable New York Times – when once upon a time the Left at least tried to mask their progressivism in sober and judicious liberal façades.

An avuncular Walter Cronkite, John Chancellor, Jim Lehrer, or Abe Rosenthal at least went through the motions of reporting news that was awkward or even embarrassing to the Left. Their agenda was 1960s-vintage Great Society liberalism, seen as the natural evolution from the New Deal and post-war internationalism. Edward R. Murrow, the ACLU of old, and Free Speech Movement at Berkeley – these were their liberal referents. Those days are gone.

  1. Back when Newt became Speaker of the House, he gave a great speech after which the talking heads explained to all "what he really said". At that moment, I realized there was not any journalism anymore. It's always surprised me it took so long for people to catch on th the compromised media

    1. Never forget that Walter Cronkite (first among others) turned the Tet Offensive from a disaster to a victory for the Communists.

  2. We need to develop a "Fairness Doctrine for the New Millennium". Back in the days of Murrow, Cronkite, Huntley-Brinkley, Broadcasters were required by the FCC to separate "opinion" from "news", label it as such, and provide equal time for opposing points of view.
Nowadays we've allowed these behemoth "social" media companies to censor speech, twist, turn, and spin the news to whatever the "opinion" of their chief executives happen to be.
All that needs to be overturned, busted into a million pieces, and never given the opportunity to rise again.

    1. Instead of Barr burning time with his bs justification of the Epstein murder, he ought to be studying anti-trust and RICO statutes and grow some balls by prosecuting the social media giants. If Standard Oil and AT&T were bad for our national health then what the hell are Zuck and his buddies?

  3. Edward R. Murrow and Walter Winchell were the media spokesmen when I was young. I wouldn't trade either of them for all the thousands of whiney liberal stooge media assholes today.
