It's way too small, doesn't have the vertical stabilizer-mounted third engine, and doesn't have the proper main landing gear. The DC-10 outer main gear are dual axle (4 tires per gear) with a 'middle' single axle third main gear. This aircraft has single axle main gear (two tires per).
The aircraft fuselage is too short and too narrow. It looks closer to a Boeing 727 (Yes, there are some still flying, particularly privately owned 727s.)
@DCE that looks like a vertical stabilizer mounted third engine to me, in the beginning of the gif? What else could it be? I'm not saying you're wrong, just that it looks like whatever plane that is has a vertical stabilizer mounted engine...but I could be misunderstanding what I'm looking at.
This is a cut-out from one of a series of Nissan commercial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7bX2sQpp98 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drpRud0yvs4 Additionally, a quite funny short film deals with the same subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96guzp_SIyw
Not sure if it is fake. #3. Truck would have to be going somewhere north of 120 miles an hour as that is about how fast a 727 is going on landing. Looks like a couple of waggles just before the tire hits and that would not be good at that speed. I do recall it as a commercial and wondered at the time.
#7 - I was watching Letterman the night he did that in his Velcro suit. I nearly pissed myself laughing. Also happened to be watching the night he donned an Alka-Seltzer suit and was dunked in a plexiglass column of water.
Now I know who made that last pizza I ordered.
ReplyDeleteI call photoshop on #3 --
ReplyDeleteThere's no way the cab or box on a pick-up could handle any where near the weight on the nose wheel of a DC-10
You mean the puff of rubber when the plane made contact wasn't from the rear tires of the pickup?
DeleteI would not be surprised if it was a commercial for Nissan. But many things happen that amaze me everyday.

It's an ad. I'm surprised they didn't add the model year in front of the name.
DeleteYep. It was made in 2011 as part of an ad campaign.
DeleteHell of a suspension. Notice the truck didn't squat a bit with the weight of that plane.
DeleteIt's not a DC-10.

It's just a copy of the same schtick presented in the amateur flick "405" from 1999.
DeleteCool video nonetheless!

That last link for the short film is an old one, but one of my all time favorite funny videos.

ReplyDeleteit's a 727 and just a truck advertisement.
ReplyDelete#9 Pizza flambe?
ReplyDelete#3, truck has no shadow, yes, photoshopped. The clock is also broken on the "tv", not to mention it isn't even a news station. :)
ReplyDelete#3 is just plain flat out amazing!
