Virginia Attorney General Brags About Shutting Down a Massive Gun Show

Virginia’s attorney general bragged on Twitter last week about shutting down a massive, 12,000-person gun show in Virginia for fears of a “superspreader” COVID-19 event.

“BREAKING: I have successfully BLOCKED a massive gun show from operating at full capacity this weekend in NOVA. Putting hundreds or even thousands of Virginians at risk for the sole purpose of selling guns is just not worth it and I’m pleased that the Judge agreed with me,” Attorney General Mark Herring tweeted.

  1. The show organizers made a weak case based on the second amendment. The judge really had no choice. They should have attacked the governor on the basis of having no authority under Virginia law to order the shutdown. That would not only have kept the show open, it would have established a state-wide precedent regarding lockdowns.

  2. The US Supreme Court said last week that New York could not limit attendance at houses of worship in the name of safety because The Constitution trumps public health wishes. [I say wishes because CV will spread but at a slower rate absent such restrictions].

Under the Court’s reasoning, no one should infringe gun rights under the guise of public safety from the virus. The decision of whether or not to attend should be left up to the individuals. I among many others have had CV-19 and am immune and noncontagious. I actually resent wearing a mask under such circumstances. I know my responsibilities, and if I never were sick, I’d be donning a mask when shopping, etc. By the way, I merely felt “crappy” for 2 weeks.

Those that feel that they are at risk of dying or being hospitalized should stay home and order everything that they need online. This POS AG should resign. He is Un-American.

    1. "This POS AG should resign. He is Un-American."

Under America as originally founded, yes. He is, however, pretty much a poster boy for the "new" America. And he's kindly and balanced compared what is coming.

    2. You are being kind. The POS AG needs to be taken out and hung. We should not have to tolerate communists who want to ruin or way of life and our country

  3. From Wikipedia:
“On the night of the [2013 Virginia AG] election, [Republican Mark] Obenshain held a 1,200 vote lead over Herring. Vote totals fluctuated as ballots were canvassed in the following days, and the race remained too close to call. On November 12, 2013, with all ballots counted, Herring held a 165-vote lead, or less than 0.01%, and Obenshain requested a recount.[15] Herring's total increased during the recount, so Obenshain conceded the election on December 18, 2013, and later that day, the recount ended with Herring winning by 907 votes, or 0.04%.[16][17][18] Herring was sworn into office on January 11, 2014.[19]”

Who would have guessed such a thing? Who could have predicted Democrat votes emerging in a recount?

  7. They should have made the plea around the 1st Amendment - the right to peacefully assemble.

    Dumbasses.

In Oregon, I participated in three gun shows in three months.

I witnessed less than one of five hundred staff and shoppers wearing masks (aka 'face-masks').
And no 'half-capacity to avoid super-spreader' nonsense.

A couple-three weeks ago, Oregon unelected governess Kate 'Moonbeam' Brown issued her latest dictate about closing gyms.
Missy Moonbeam can dictate that because businesses are stationary and have something to lose.
I am old and cranky and mobile... with much less to lose.

I refuse to recognize the term 'CoViD-19' or the upcoming 'CoViD-21' as possessing any legitimacy.
The accurate term is 'this phase of this Economic Lock-Down'.

    And while I am on a roll, president-elect pelosi/harris has zero-zero-zero legitimacy.
