Fear grips Capitol Hill: "Untouchable? We're all touchable now"

Washington — The attack on the Capitol a week ago has left lawmakers with a heightened sense of vulnerability about their own security — and fresh questions about whether their own leaders and the U.S. Capitol Police are adequately equipped to handle those concerns.

  1. I am glad they are scared. I will not be there and have never attended any political rally. I will be here to protect me and mine.

    1. "I am glad they are scared."

Their vengeance will be broadly targeted and "unpleasant" to say the least. In the words of Omar Little from The Wire: “Ay-yo, lesson here, Bey. You come at the king, you best not miss.” People came at the kings, and missed.

  2. And the result will be that they will build fortifications around their buildings and, likely, develop protected residential enclaves. Look for legislation building luxurious apartments for the chosen few. They will further isolate themselves and their staffs from the common folks and our dirty existence.

We will suffer the depredation of criminal activity as our police are defunded and vilified. All the while, they will surround themselves with a heavily armed protective force who will be bribed by governmental largesse at our expense. It will be the modern day equivalent of "let them eat cake".

And lots of nice shiny new laws making anything that can even remotely be deemed "a threat" subject to some measures that would make even the most depraved Roman emperors thing "Wow, that's a bit much."

  3. Just make the capital a "Gun Free Zone" that solves that problem.
Enforce NASCAR rules (If you take money wear a patch saying so).
    Clarity that's what's needed..........

  4. Oaaaahh, they're al SCARED. Imagine how SCARED they're going to be when they have to return to their districts and spend some time among their constituents.

I'm Betting we don't see much of them for the foreseeable future.

They're blaming President Trump and the MAGA folks, when, just like always, they're the cause of their own distress. All they had to do was do their job and follow their oath. Instead they work on a few things. Enriching themselves and their friends and families and getting re-elected and occasionally throwing a sop to the masses while enslaving the common folks with exorbitant taxes and suppressed wages. Why one would think, observing their behavior, that we've got royalty working for us in the District of Criminals. Now, with Biden, they've given us one of the all time great criminal grifters in the history of the U.S. Government. A man who has taken billions in bribes from communists across the globe and who will resell American jobs to China for 30 more pieces of silver.

    1. Mr. Nemo, I have no idea why you would tar these selfless public servants with such base accusations. They make terrible sacrifices for your good and mine. (Sarcasm on)

Most of them have never worked or played anywhere that saying stupid shit would get you punched in the face.

  9. If politicians didn't abuse, neglect, and denegrate the people of this country they wouldn't have anything to be scared of. A simple lesson that has been lost; If you treat everyone like shit, eventually someone will tire of your BS and give you the lesson you deserve."

  12. “When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - When you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - When you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you - When you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - You may know that your society is doomed.”

  16. I'll add a third quote to those from Otis & Texan - from Alan Moore's 'V for Vendetta': "People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people."

I hope the stay scared. It'd do 'em good.

  17. Listen. Here is an answer for Capitol and inaugural security: Have one entry labeled "Whites," with the best detectors and dogs and lots of po-leece, and another entry labeled "POC," where obvious black, Hispanic, Asian-American, Pacific Islanders and such pass freely, no po-leece to hurt anybody's feelings.
