I love your website, ken. That first picture won a pulitzer prize way back when. It is a commentary on mankind itself and convinced me at that moment, that Homo Sapiens are not for this world as a species. That picture made me the nihilist I am today. Life has no meaning if the sanctity of life itself, does not. I give our species 100 years...tops. Take a minute and just stare at that picture. The vulture is natural and necessary. But what of the species that is simply indifferent to suffering, therein lies the true definition of doomed worthless pieces of shit.
That's why the reporter who took it killed himself - he realized that he should have done something, and didn't. He probably had other issues, too, but that was apparently a big motivator.
That African child at that point was too far gone to save. if he/she had been in a trauma hospital with a full code would not matter, with that type of starvation food, water, IV glucose that baby would have died anyway. The vulture sensed it and smelled death.
The guy who took the photo in #1 was named Kevin Carter. He shooed the vulture away from the kid (apparently a boy, not a girl as was stated in papers at the time) and the kid survived until 2007 when he apparently died of a fever. He outlived Carter by over a decade. (Carter killed himself via carbon monoxide poisoning in '94)
Carter's suicide note didn't mention the boy, but did mention nightmares about witnessing killings, atrocities, and his apparent struggles to find money for child support, among other things.
At least you are still just getting 30 day jail sentences. Last week I finally got the ban hammer. They nuked my FaecesBook account completely. Try harder.....you too can become a FaecesBook Martyr.
I cancelled my FB account around the time of the inauguration. I called the current admin Joe and the Ho and got a week long suspension for just that comment. This after having more of my comments restricted or just plain deleted right out from under me.
As a matter of principle, I finally got tired of being a revenue stream while being openly censured. I get that they are a private company and own the platform. But, they monetize my participation (ad revenue and selling my information to third parties). They have the right to limit my voice for one-sided violations of policy, but I have the right to refuse to participate in a rank money making scheme for my persecutors.
Plastic face must have attended the Hillary Clinton school for buying cattle futures. Now she will be able to buy another freezer for her ice cream
