Glock vs 1911

That's right, I went there. Glock vs 1911, which is best? In this non-biased comparison, I think we find out...

VIDEO HERE  (4:45 minutes)

  1. Best comparison this hour

  2. dunno and don't care. Glock is preferred by police. 1911 has been preferred by US Special Forces in two wars. SF guys have shot more people in two way ranges than police.

That tells me all I need to know.

  3. Glock is best. Although, the Browning Hi-Power, which corrected many of the flaws in the 1911, is a damned fine firearm, too.

    1. Think the cz75 took it one step farther. IMO best of the bunch.

  4. Well, let me say about that... The 1911 has been in continuous production longer than gaston glock has been alive.

  5. at any given time the best weapon is the one that you have in your hand. so you'd better be at least familiar with as many as you can get your hands on. not only hand guns...rifles, knives, long and short...swords...clubs...and your own hands and feet.

  6. I might have said this before, but the only reason to have a handgun is to fight your way back to your rifle. Having reiterated the obvious, I would still rather have a sister in a whorehouse than a brother armed with a Glock. Eod1sg Ret

  7. Cool. Next up, let's compare how the 9mm is superior to 45 acp. :-D

  8. Not sure where I fall in this argument so my solution is to have a Glock and a real Colt .45 auto. Of course Sig Sauer, S&W, Berretta, and Ruger are all also represented in my handgun collection. This is what happens when you can't decide what's best. Thinking about getting one of those Bond Arms derringers just for the hell of it. I know everyone has their own experience but I've used 3 different Taurus models and they were all defective. Better guns tend to cost more. I will say there is nothing like the fit and finish on the Colt.

  10. I own both a Rock Island 1911 and two glocks, models 21d and 30. I like the way the glocks fit my hand and how easy it is to bring it on sight with their optics. However, if the shtf, I want the 1911, it has proven itself for over a century. I don't really understand why people only want one or the other, to me guns are like pokemons, gotta have 'em all.

  11. I'm not sure why, but I strongly suspect several of the prior responders didn't really watch the vid. Or don't have a sense of humor

    1. You got that impression too, huh? Now I'm kinda sorry I wasted the humor on them.

    2. Funny shit. Yep, most people did not watch it and got on their high horse over the subject. I own both in 45 and they work just fine. Take your pick which 45 you DON'T want to be shot with.

    3. I saw this posted on another blog a few days ago and it seems like half the commenters didn’t pick up on the sarcasm. Someone even corrected him on the Australia remark. Go figure.

    4. I did watch the video before composing my reply. I got the sarcasm, but still felt compelled to contribute to the quasi-religious argument.

  12. Bought my first pistol in 1986, a Glock 17. I still have it. It has had one malfunction in 35 years due to a known bad magazine. I shoot 1911s, CZs, Sigs, and Smiths very well, somewhat better than Glocks. My go to defensive pistol will always be a Glock.

  13. I came back to see if anyone had picked up on the fact that is was comedy finally, thank you uninformed.

  15. Springfield XDM 9 or 45 is far superior. Now I never shoot the other two anymore.

  16. I one friend who was a HUGE 1911 guy and another who was a HUGE Glock guy (he has since passed). I always enjoyed egging them on on in their debates and listening to them "go at it" about which gun was superior and why. Both made excellent points. I am of the same opinion as the caption at the end of the video ("Both guns are great for their own reasons"). I resisted the "Glock Fever" up until a few years ago. I had a phobia that shooting one would be like trying to shoot a box. After shooting a friends it sort of grew on me. I bought a 17 and liked it. I traded it in on a model 19 and really like it. I love my 1911 too, but then again I haven't found many guns I do not like.

  17. Looks like even at 91 years of age, Gaston Glock still gets led around by his pecker:

  18. Well the humor was not wasted on me .That video may have been satire but it parallels my thinking .A bit of history ... Over 100 years ago the US army complained that their 38 cal. revolvers wouldn't kill drugged up natives fighting them in the Philippines . So John Moses
(gun God) developed the .45 ACP a larger more powerful cartridge and the army was happy . Then
for some reason the 9mm. became very popular , probably because of their large capacity .A quick breakdown in bullet sizes . So from an under powered .38 cal. up to a larger more powerful .45 cal. back down to a smaller less powerful 9mm.(35 cal.). It's not difficult arithmetic . Not all handguns are created equal , you get what you pay for eg. a Beretta is far superior to a Glock . So endeth the lesson .

  19. Hell I win I had both until that boating accident.

  20. That was pretty funny. Love the "mama's tupperware" line. It reminded me of references to "combat tupperware" you'd often see when plastic guns first hit the market.
That said, I won't own a Glock for a couple of reasons.
The grip angle is wrong and they have shit triggers that can't be made non-shit triggers.
The main reason I won't ever own a Glock is because Gaston Glock is a POS. He cheated his business partners and beat his wife. He has said that handgun ownership should be restricted to military and police only while making a fortune selling handguns to civilians.

  21. How many hands do you have? Glock in one, 1911 in the other. Be prepared.

  22. You'd feel like a real pussy smacking some clown across the beak with a plastic gun.

    1. I've carried a gun for close to 40 years, a J rame S&W, then a 4 inch Ruger speedsix in 357 and for the last 25 years or so a Glock. I've never had to hit smack some clown across the beak with my weapon, but I have no doubt if I do the clown is going down and I'll feel just fine.

  23. I'm convinced, totally unbiased. I'm shit canning that Glock 19 I foolishly got back in '91. My Glocks only failure was because of non full length resized reloads. I've had tons of 1911 failures (it's usually not too hard to sort 'em out), but I love them anyway. Get both, because diversity is our strength.

  24. Yawn, mom's Tupperware vs great, great, great grandpa's mostly empty tin beer cans, you choose. 1911s been around 2000 years and have killed more muthafuckers than 3 Chinese dictators where Glocks only been around a hundred or so years and have only killed as many as 1.5 Pol Pot dictators, more yawn. Hit an asshole in the head with a 1911 and he knows he's been hit, if you've let an asshole get that close either you fucked up or your 1911 malfunctioned again, yawn again. I can go on but then this would eventually become as stupid and useless as the video.
Oh yea and all you steel frame stick in the muds, CZ a manufacturer and producer of polymer frame striker fired handguns bought your glorious Colt manufacturing company. Hmmmmm decisions, decisions, stay in the 19th century or move forward with the rest of the world.

  25. Thanks, Kenny, for the laugh. Nice, clean, funny. And I think the throwing it in the puddle part and then dripping a little and quickly wiping was the funniest for me. I also loved the all-American dorky marksman aspect of it. That was a little masterpiece.
