Blame it on Richard Nixon

There is, of course, plenty of blame to go around, but Richard Nixon did give us two terrible precedents. Both struck at the heart of our constitutional order, and they are key elements of our current political catastrophe.

The first of these precedents occurred in the wake of the 1960 election. As you know, John F. Kennedy stole the election with the help of the Mafia in Chicago and the crooked cronies of “Landslide” Lyndon Johnson in Texas. Although this was widely known at the time, Nixon decided not to challenge the results in Illinois and Texas. It was said that he did not want to put the nation through the trauma of a disputed presidential election.

  1. Sadly, it looks as though Trump will be compared to Nixon, for being a giant pussy.

    1. Nixon had few allies; Trump had none. Hell, for all the "IF BIDEN 'WINS,' IT'S WAR!!!!!!" stuff posted all over for months, the best the TradAms could manage to do in ostensible support was a half-assed protest that got hijacked by their enemies and led to one of their own getting snuffed.

  2. "Two terrible precedents"? How about taking the country off the gold standard?

    1. Ding, ding, ding...we have a winner. All politicians are by definitions "shit-weasels or worse."

  3. The Nixon era was the first time the media had become a real threat, using a variety of tactics to push opinion and not simply report news and let the reader do the interpretation. That, of course, was the beginning of the dumbing down of America. Nixon was no dummy; he knew from first hand experience how vicious the media was becoming but had little recourse in getting his message out to the public. One thing led to another and the trajectory turned downward fast; before long he was snarled in the 'third rate burglary' that led to his impeachment-he was left with little choice other than to resign.

Trump made skillful use of the media in getting his message out. It must have bothered the looney left to no end that he knew how to turn that weapon against them.

Ask yourself: if we had honesty in media-especially social media-why would one-sided censorship be allowed to become a political weapon? We are witnessing the destruction of the Republic-one brick at a time-before our own eyes.

  4. My gut says they got the "JFK" message to him and this time included his family.
