    1. You can bring up any kind of worm doing that. Put a fair amount of pressure on the tip of the stick on the ground, then rub and drum with the other one, also using a lot of pressure. They'll pop up and crawl towards the stick.

    2. I had a dozer driver in East Kentucky tell me that the vibrations of his machine did the same thing with rattlesnakes. I've never seen that, I've only heard (but just to be sociable I took his word).

    3. When I was a kid, we had a place where, after a rain, at night, we would pick up nightcrawlers, and sell them for .50 cents a dozen to the local bait shop. We brought them in by the quart canning jar. We used the money from that to buy illegal snagging hooks for fall, when salmon ran up our river, my twin brother and I would fill our freezer with fish, plus sell them, to the people hanging out after 5 pm work shifts, at the local sawmill. They were hanging out at the local bar, and we would often bring the fish right into the bar so they could see how big they were. I think the most we ever would get would be around 4-5 $ each.
We couldn't afford waders, so we wore blue jeans and tennis shoes. I remember fishing on opening day of deer season, here in Michigan, November 15th, and going in the river after hooking a very large King Salmon, a rare type that we seldom saw. It was freezing, but I still caught the fish, it was a female, spawned out, and very much near death, rotted away. I weighed it and it still weighed over 28 pounds, the biggest salmon I ever caught in my many years of fishing back then.
I fish legally now, and it is a blast. Just seeing the fish in the rivers again after all these years is fantastic. And now that I am retired, any time spent doing fun things, makes me happy.

  3. 3) You can actually see the tension sensor in the hose reel working. It maintains a pre-set tension in the hose based on the drogue and lets line in and out as the receiver aircraft moves around.

    1. I've had it done at a body shop 2 times, where the corner was indented much worse, and could not come easily. I think they baked the car in the paint oven to soften the bumper, or maybe removed the bumper to bake it. It was a couple hundred dollars instead of a couple thousand for a new bumper and paint. The result was not perfect, but pretty good for an 7 or 8 year old car that looked its age.

    2. That is a standard driving skill for farmers. It's pretty much the only way to screw a combine header (or tractor with 3-point implement) through a smaller gate.

    3. saw hundreds of loads of 20' pipe brought into our plant the same way. Those with skill never hit the walls. Those without caused 20' tall bollards to be put in so as not to jack up the door lift rails.

    1. Yeah, but the pressure inside was one psi greater than the outside pressure. The manhole cover had in the order of 300 square inches. 300 sq. inches X 1 psi = 300 lbs. which is enough to lift the manhole cover.

  8. #9 Heard a story about never parking over manhole covers at Hooker Chemical plant in upstate New York decades ago, because when the sewers blew (as the periodically did), it would shoot those things a 100 feet in the air.
