Texas passes Constitutional Carry

A measure long sought by conservative activists allowing Texans to carry handguns without a license is on the cusp of becoming law after the Texas Senate approved a compromise on the bill Monday, sending it to Gov. Greg Abbott.
Abbott has said he would sign the permitless carry proposal into law.

  1. I hope the majority of Texans behave themselves. I guess they better - far more chance of running into someone who might do something about it.

I'm guessing a lot more polite driving and communications. I'm guessing plenty of stores / shops will put up a sign against it.

Or does that give someone a chance to sue them for violation rights ?

Better read the fine details below the fold.

    1. When concealed carry permits were first issued, stores jumped at the chance to put up signs prohibiting entry if you were carrying a concealed weapon. The signs started coming down when business dropped, others came down when the store owners were informed that they were taking responsibility for customer safety both in the store and in the parking lot, and that they could be sued if someone were injured or killed during a robbery because they had to leave their weapon in their vehicle. There are still plenty of businesses with the signs, but they're easy to avoid.

    2. I see a few 'No Guns' signs, all in larger towns and cities. Meanwhile, here in Lafayette I can wander into my bank lobby with a 1911 on my hip and nobody bats an eye.

  2. We have been behaving for years. Even in the face of afronts to the Constitution. Eventhiugh it has taken nearly a decade for CC to pass, we have been nice and civil. But, let the left in anymore than they are and we will, to quote Cpt Mal, "I aim to misbehave." So, us behaving depends on them.

  3. As I understand it the Texas Permission Slip will still be available. It does work with reciprocity for several states in the Southeast and does shorten gun purchase red tape. It also indicates that you have passed a background check. I think I'm going to keep mine till the rest of the states see the light. I don't believe you should need any of that but I do live in the real world.

  4. Only thing you need to worry about in Texas is the steers and queers. The steers don't carry, but the queers will grab yer gun in a heartbeat!
