  1. Gimme a good dog over an average woman anyday!

  2. Had a wire hair Dachshund that worried like that when Granddaughters went into the pool or lake. She would jump in and have to be rescued herself.

  3. Cats are fine pets, but there is nothing like a dog. Nothing else is even close. Period. End of sentence. (Not open for discussion.)

  9. Nothing on earth like the love of a good dog. They'll be there for you when no one else will.

  10. And the dog at my house eats his own shit. I think this one is defective.

    1. Had a Chihuahua like that. Would eat any but liked cat shit the best. Our son passed that dog to us after our Shepherd mix had died at 18. No contest. That one and the Shepherd mix we have now don't take nobody's shit.

    2. Not defective just extremely aggravating...especially when they get in your face after chewing on that Scoobie snack.

    3. I looked this situation up. They'll do that because their noses are so sensitive that they'll recognize that there are still nutrients in it.

  12. My HC#3 is a Pretty Good Cat.

But I wouldn't rely on him to save me from drowning.

  14. While on a hunting trip in South Dakota, our guide informed us:

"You ought to know that we love our dogs more than we love our wives, so be careful where you point that shotgun."

Another man spoke up, "Hell yes. I cat get a new wife anytime, but you can't replace a real good dog."

I still haven't gotten over losing that nice dog that's my icon. He was a foundling, and was real smart. About the smartest dog I ever had.

  16. The video answers Kipling's question:

    The Power of the Dog

    Rudyard Kipling

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
    From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
    Love unflinching that cannot lie—
    Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
    Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find—it’s your own affair—
But . . . you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!).
When the spirit that answered your every mood
    Is gone—wherever it goes—for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept ’em, the more do we grieve.
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long—
So why in—Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

  20. My daughter had a standard poodle that had a laser lock on her. Her kept her in his sights at all times. He died about a year ago, we all loved that poodle, to this day.
My wife and I have two poodles, my daughter got two more as well. I will always have one.

  23. God dammit right in the 1 feeling.... Reminds me of Sophie my dachshund..... Started barking when an intruder tried to lock pick my door at midnight.... Lights turned on by me. Guy ran and drove off. Woman stayed up all night looking at that door even after I walked her... She only layed down when I went to work.

Her departing this earth was worse than any girlfriend break up, loss, or anything. Dog was on guard and obedient 100 percent of the time. Wish I had a lifetime more of her company. Best damn dog. No issues . Just pure love, company, and attention to owner.

One break up was because I wouldn't get rid of sophie. She was allergic to dogs. I said I guess you gotta go.

Thank you for this. Dog is only as good as it's owner. I'm just an average guy. I didn't deserve her love but God damnit I fed her , walked her, played with her , she had her own bed, and spoiled her like the queen she was.

  24. I was going to say something sentimental along the lines of we don't deserve them.

But I have two out of the three in my office with me. The big one is licking his butt, loudly, and the puppy was chewing on one of my wife's homemade masks. I just pulled 3' of thread out of this gullet. I shudder to think what #3 is up to.

But they're my buddies. The reason they're acting out is I'm sitting here on Kenny's site instead of walking them. They know it's time.

  25. The Kipling poem just tore the guts out of me. I have a Chihuahua mix and a German shepherd pup. Bobo is 9 and Greta is 1. I know it's coming but I try not to think about it. Two of the best friends you can have
