I need to get me one of those Browning Highpoints

LAKEWOOD, Wash. — A 54-year-old man is accused of shooting and killing another man who was attempting to steal a catalytic converter from his truck, and then dragging the man's body behind the truck and dumping it into a field in Lakewood.

*

Investigators also discovered a Browning Highpoint 9mm pistol in the F-150 and green rope that visually matched rope found at the crime scene.

  2. A rose by any other name ... Browning Hi-Powers are also nice pistols - pick either. :^)

Hi-Points are ugly as hell, buthave a reputation for being reliable. I have one of those ugly 'Planet of the Apes 9mm carbines. The sights line up naturally with my hold so no complaints here.

    1. Gotta be a lot nicer than a Hi-Point High Point.

    2. Can you imagine how ugly it would be?

  4. If the facts as reported are correct I'm not seeing a problem here.
If a LOT more of these assclowns stealing catalytic converters
died during the process this epidemic of theft might stop. These
douchetards due hundreds or even thousands of dollars in damage to
a vehicle just to steal something that might net them at best fifty bucks.
    They need to die.

  5. Forget the Highpoint.

"the defendant exited the Ford F-15,"

Someone alert Gropin' Joe Biden that we have F-15s, too.

    1. The Ford F-15: Much like the familiar F-150, only much, much smaller. About a tenth the size, in fact. Designed for the export market for sale to leprechauns, pixies and other tiny humanoids.

  8. John Browning is currently attempting to dig himself out of his grave so he can strangle whoever wrote that story.

  9. While he is underneath trying to cut off the convertor, drive over him a few times.
    Use other vehicles as well.
About twenty may do the trick.

  10. I once (1980s) went into a pawn shop and saw, tagged as a "no name 9mm" for $99, an FN Browning with matching numbers and Dirty Bird (NAZI) markings.
I paid their price immediately, and later sold it to a collector for its' true value.

  11. I owned a HiPoint for a time. It was everything that people say, and more. It shot every single time, without a single bobble or fail. It was super accurate, for a cheap gun.
Of course, it was as ugly as sin, and top heavy. At the time, it was about the cheapest gun you could buy, and still have a reliable gun.
The thing is, now the gun companies have seen that consumers want a decent quality gun at a low price point, and responded with things like the Ruger Ec9, the Taurus G2, the G2C, and the G3C, the Smith SW9VE. At one time or another, they all could be had for around 200$, street price. That is not too much more than the 160$ price of a HiPoint. And while the HiPoint is a good enough gun, those others are much better guns, with better sights, triggers, and quality materials.
Of course, for some, that extra 50$ could possibly mean the difference between having a gun or not, and so by all means, go for that HiPoint. Gun snobs have always been around, and they don't get to tell you how to defend your family or yourself, unless they want to pay for your gun.

  12. Why is that illegal? He should be able to put a tag on his toe and call the critter control officer for pickup.

  13. Another case of littering. The killing of the thief was NOT a crime in my book. The county/state should give the man a reward, since he permanently reformed that thief at no cost to the county/state for jail costs, trial costs, or incarceration costs. I'll bet that was not the thief's first rodeo, either. How many times has the judicial system convicted the asshole? He certainly didn't learn not to break the law. Now the mofo will never, ever steal from anyone ever again.
