L.A. County to require COVID vaccinations for its employees

Los Angeles County employees will soon be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 after an executive order was issued by Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, a statement released Wednesday said.

All county employees, regardless of the department they serve, will need to be fully vaccinated no later than October 1, with exemptions for medical and religious purposes.

  1. Arbitrarily changing terms of employment makes the employer a ripe target for legal action. Seeing how the LA County employees are mostly (if not all) unionized, I reckon the union will have something to say about this. I had already read that elsewhere in the nation the labor union rejected the employer's mandate because it was not negotiated with the union.

Even if not represented by a union, I reckon any and all employees would have a juicy wrongful termination suit laid in their laps. It will be interesting to see how this proceeds in an At Will state.

  2. "Nice union ya got there. Say, have you ever heard of Jimmy Hoffa? Oh, good. 'Cause you're about to meet him. Wear a suit."
