  1. 18, The photo of a sea turtle we all saw years ago with a 6 pack holder was faked. Just as the one of the polar bear and cub was cropped from a photo of dozens of polar bears. And of course the "Doesn't know squat about science guy" will not tell you the truth that the big island of plastic waste in the Pacific is trash fron communist China.

    1. Amen Brother! I had some dude giving me a hard time for requesting plastic grocery bags (I have a secondary need for them) in a checkout line and he gave me that BS about all of them ending up in the ocean. I told him he is ignorant and that basically none of our plastic bags in the USA (they get buried in landfills) end up in the ocean and that is all China and other asian countries.

    2. James, I assume your 'secondary use' is as liners for your trashcan (at least it is for me), and if you didn't have them you'd have to buy Glad Bags, which are thicker and decay slower (and aren't free).

    3. Lots or secondary uses for plastic grocery bags, including following your dog around when you take him for a walk or to claim the remains from the kitty litter box.

  3. Gregg,
You got it, brother. Which way do the winds blow? Where are all these plastic bags coming from? Hmmm.

  4. #20 - I HATE when that happens! Especially when you're a guest in someone's house.

  5. Greg and Halfdar while a good portion of that trash in the Pacific gyre may have been dumped in the ocean and rivers to the ocean by the Chinese, a significant portion of that trash originated here and other first world countries. It was shipped to China for recycling. The stuff they couldn't use, which was most of it, was dumped.

    1. So what you're saying is that, instead of disposing of it properly by using it to fill a disused quarry or incinerating it to generate energy, we decided to save the environment by recycling it. So we send it to China who recycle it by chucking it in the sea. So who's causing the problem, me or the Greens?

#11 is an obvious photoshop job. The laws of physics would require a separate sun-bright light source for each rainbow-- and each bow has to be centered precisely opposite its light source. AND even if you had multiple suns in the sky, all of the bows will be the same angular diameter (subtent) because those pesky laws also define how light is refracted in the rain/mist drops.

The only real variables are what the drops are made of and possibly atmospheric density. There was some work done suggesting that if the rain/mist was, for example, made of ammonia droplets the size and of the bow would be different because of ammonia has different refractive index and dispersion than water does. But that wouldn't happen in a normal-appearing terrestrial atmosphere.

#8 I'm going to guess that Pansexual is just her way of saying "I'll take it anyway I can get it."
