Masks are here to stay as long as libs need to shame their political enemies

Masks, as Twitter wags have noted, are by now the equivalent of MAGA hats for Blue America. As washed-up child activist David Hogg put it last year, “I feel the need to continue wearing my mask outside, even though I’m fully vaccinated, because the inconvenience of having to wear a mask is more than worth it to have people not think I’m a conservative.”

Such statements capture an unfortunate fact about our society: We’re so politically tribalized that even our response to the pandemic says more about politics than about anything else. That’s especially true when it comes to masking.

However, making a statement like this definitely marks you out as a complete and utter bellend.

  3. Masks will be required as long as people blindly follow the edicts of the criminals in power. A mask is the 21st Century equivalent of a yellow star marked "juden".

  4. “I feel the need to continue wearing my mask outside ... [so] people [do] not think I’m a conservative.”

Another "conservative" who doesn't have the strength of his convictions. Then we wonder why "conservatives" have no balls.

I was at a store the other day in a neighboring state. I wasn't sure what the mask mandate in that state was, so I carried one up to the door. I asked the "greeter" (it wasn't a Walmart) if masks were required. He said "Not if you're [jabbed]". I stuck the mask in my pocket and went about my business, after rolling my eyes, which I made sure he saw.

  5. Had a nice hike today around Lake Crescent. About a half dozen masked people out of a 100(?) on the trail. Every time I was about to pass one, I loudly said to my gal, That person is wearing a mask outside. Got some great death looks but no lip.

  6. I don't like when Republicans/Democrats and Left/Right politicals assume the rest of us wish to participate in their mental illness.
