Actually diesel-electric trains running on battery are extremely quiet. I almost got run over by one while serving as a rod man on a survey team. It got within 50 feet of me before I noticed it. No doubt I was going to get a horn blast for fun.
At first, I thought the pedestrians were screwing with the train engineers. How could you not notice that train behind you. You could hear it's engines running in the video. But man, when they blew that horn and those two dumbasses dove off the tracks in opposite directions, I fell out of my chair laughing.
We played on the tracks as kids. Commuter and freight trains. If the wind is on your face, you can't hear them suckers till they hit you so you never walk on tracks.
Really speedy trains aren't quiet at all but you can't hear them coming. I'm assuming that, travelling at about a third of the speed of sound has something to do with it.
Smart Phone addicted Zombies? Run the assholes down.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe anyone could be so clueless not to realize a train is bearing down on them, but here we are.
ReplyDeleteThe bigger the toys, the bigger the joke !!!!
