  1. Dang, the damage that bear could do with those claws and paws! Huge mistake IMHO for the bear to be learning no fear of people and dogs.

  3. Um... this is what turns bears into dangerous adult bears. We have bears all over east Tennessee, especially in Sevier County. Once they learn that humans are a source of food, they eventually have to be put down.

    1. @Amahl_Shukup - Agreed, they are basically sentencing that bear to death and some unknown human(s) to injury/death as well.
Cute shit tho...that's the important thing.

    2. My uncle was a game warden in the Smokies/Cherokee National Forest. He had some great stories about the many stupid things people would do around bears.

  4. Not too bright feeding a wild animal. When that thing gets bigger he'll be snacking on their dogs

    1. Unless it's a rescued orphan and living in captivity, yeah, bad idea acclimating it to dogs or humans. It's a death sentence for the bear.

  5. Wow, if he (fem.?)could be turned into a trained part the pack, that would make your team very formidable.

  7. True story. About 10 years ago, local DNR agent brings me a cub from Chattahoochee National Forest. Mother was hit by car and ran off no where to be found. They brought cub to me cause it got grazed by car and needed to be checked out. Cub was 12 pounds. Picture that. Tiny as hell, the size of the big house cats I see. So I look at it wrapped in the towel. and the wound needs to be cleaned and sutured. I sedate it (still in towel) and do my thing. I'm sitting in a run with it while it's waking up, it does so quickly, stands up and swipes at me with those claws someone above mentioned, and opens my arm wide open. I look at the cub, look at my tech (whose now my wife, a story for another day) and I said, imagine an over 1000 pound grizzly doing that to you. The cub calmed down and eventually let me handle it but it still used it's claws a lot even when playing. We used the remaining suture left over from him to close my arm and that's my "attacked by a bear" story.

  9. Lots of Russians seem to keep bears as pets. Seems risky, but maybe if you're drunk enough it all works.

  10. Maybe it's being raised as one of the pack?
