    #2 I wonder if people who own electric cars pay fuel tax for the fossil fuel they consume to charge their cars?

      The Motor Fuel Tax in Illinois is $.392/gal, or 8.5% on $4.59/gal

      I looked at my electric bill, and I pay plenty of taxes for electricity.
      But the money does not go to the Motor Fuel Tax Fund needed to build and maintain bike paths or important things like that.

      My electric bill:
      Taxes and Fees: $17.22 (13% of the total bill)
      Environmental Cost Recovery
      Renewable Portfolio Standard
      Zero Emission Standard
      Energy Efficiency Programs
      Energy Transition Assistance
      Franchise Cost
      State Tax
      Municipal Tax

      And I don't even own an electric car!
