German Chemical Giant Warns Of "Total Collapse" If Russian Gas Supply Cut
The CEO of Germany's multinational BASF SE, the world's largest chemical producer, has warned that curbing or cutting off energy imports from Russia would bring into doubt the continued existence of small and medium-sized energy companies, and further would likely spiral Germany into its most "catastrophic" economic crisis going back to the end of World War II.

ReplyDeleteOn some level, people might read "all part of the plan" as a throw away comment, but it is completely spot on. The goal of globalization was to make economies so intertwined that even the threat of war would be catastrophic to all concerned -- you couldn't go to war due to the immediate damage to your own economy.
DeleteThe theory goes that would make you safer -- because your enemy couldn't go to war with you. But the reality is that it makes everyone hostage to the maddest person in the room.

ReplyDeleteAccording to an article CFP this morning, Germany has or will nationalize their Gazprom facilities. Like THAT'S going to do anything when Putin turns the valve off in Russia.
ReplyDeleteWhen the EU decided to kill all of their coal fired and nuke power plants to go green I was kind of amazed that they would think that Putin was going to be a nice guy and never threaten their economies. Buncha fookin idiots.

We have plenty of gas available in Europe and have no need whatsoever to be dependent on Russia. All of our clueless politicians have bought the climate change nonsense and think that they are saving the planet by not extracting it. In the UK there are no sane parties left to vote for.
