  1. #17 for the win

I remember an army pistol instructor, back in the 1911 days , telling us that it was accurate within a closed elevator and after all rounds missed the target, grab the barrel and throw it at your enemy.

    1. My father's squadron armorer took all of the then post WWII and post Korean War (active shooting phase) 1911s and stripped them down and rebuild a good portion of them into accurate shooters. Armorer was a Marine who transferred to the AF in 1948. Dad's squadron regularly beat everyone else in the Korean and Japanese area.

1911s can be accurate, very accurate. Issued 1911s can also be clapped out pieces of crap.

    2. Recall a story of a young LT in Korea who happened to rack his 1911 in a crowded bunker and it discharged. Saved because a grizzled NCO swore he saw that the LT did NOT have his finger on the trigger. Some of those old 1911s were so worn out that they rattled.

    3. When I was on the USS Saratoga, I was sent to the ship's master at arms force. We carried 1911A1's. I found a nice Remington Rand in the arms locker and I always picked that pistol on my shift. When it came time to qualify with the pistol, I put 30 rounds into a 3" circle covering the 10 ring. That's accurate enough for me.

    4. When I was in we went to the range. The CO's driver had a poor showing. The Captain, a Marine Corps Vet, asked him about it. The driver held it up and shook e. It rattled big time. CO asked for a full mag. We put the range hot and he unleashed. 35 meter range, group in the x ring smaller than a dollar. All seven holes touched.
His own target, with his issue, was a single large hole.
He and the operations SGT regularly competed for steak dinners. They would draw three lines through the pattern and measure each line. Smallest number won. Most were settled by less than a 1/4 inch.
A 1911 isn't for everyone. Neither is a Glock. Shoot what you shoot best.

    5. When I was in WEST Germany (1988-1990) the 1911 I was issued had a manufacture date of 1945. So It may have come over there during WWII. It's slide was loose and it rattled. But it shot just fine.

    2. Yeah, our daughter was maybe two years old when I put a piece of foam rubber on her head and stuck a batting helmet on top. Let her hold the throttle and all she knew was WFO. Second gear wasn't all that fast but the 125 Enduro sure did make a satisfying noise.

  5. I thought #5 was going to be a really old joke I've told a thousand times.

A Polish guy goes to the doctor and says "Doc, I don't know what's wrong with me. When I touch here (touching his knee), it really hurts. When I touch here (touches his shoulder), it really hurts. And my hip, it's the same way." The Doc says "you moron, you broke your finger!"

    1. You, too? I thought it was just me. For phuck's sake, you are posting a small handful of simple words in our native language. Can't you just reread what you are about to publish and make sure you got all of them right? This is not rocket science.
