I tried this with my Australian Shepherd and he freaked out. He doesn't even like bugs on his back. He's very mellow about most things and has no issues with playing rough or getting scratched by the barbed wire fence which he goes through no problem but he hates anything on his back. Lucky for him the chickens are not into practical jokes.
Just love these new fangled back scratchers.
