More than $200,000 in jewelry was stolen in a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in Montclair Place Mall Thursday evening, but not before store employees were able to land a few shots of their own.
It was just after 6 p.m. when three men came in to Anthony and Co. Jewelers armed with sledgehammers, according to Eduardo Haro and Griselda Martinez, who were behind the counter when the attack began.
I love how they called the thieves "black gentlemen". A firearm would have been much better deterrent than a calculator.

DeleteWith all of the news articles about these types of robberies in the last few years why anyone that owns a jewelry business has not installed cases with bullet proof glass is beyond me. Yep, they'll be expensive. What's more expensive, the cases or loosing your stock to a bunch of Amish, then having to fight the insurance company for recompense and probably losing your insurance policy or having the premiums go so high that they're unaffordable. Course a couple of 12 gauge pumps with cylinder bore 20" barrels and #4 buck or #2 bird shot, strategically located, would be good too.
