When you have that much in common.....

NORWALK, Calif. - Jack Morris spent the majority of his 40-year prison stint in solitary confinement. Dolores Canales also spent time incarcerated in the SHU – California's nickname for isolation units.

So, it's not lost on them that they will never be alone again.

Morris and Canalas, both 62, were married on July 16 at the Los Caballeros Club in Fountain Valley in Orange County, with more than 100 friends, relatives and prison rights activists cheering as they took their vows.

*****

Please forgive my skepticism that they'll be good for each other and straighten their lives out.

  2. I guess if you believe in rehabilitation, then this is a feel good story and may in fact have a happy ending. If you think once a criminal always a criminal, then this isn't likely going to work. Honestly, I don't see how anyone that's been in the slammer for 40 years can ever function in civil society again. But then again, we're really not living in a civil society so maybe it will work for him.

  6. One cannot help thinking that perhaps they got married so that they can't be compelled to testify against each other. I wish them well.
