Push underway to install alcohol monitoring devices in every new vehicle in US

SACRAMENTO — A push is underway to have alcohol monitoring devices installed in every new vehicle sold in America.

In 2021, there were 27 DUI-related manslaughter cases in Sacramento. That is more than twice as many from 2020.

A feel good measure. Lots of kids are going to be making 5 bucks to blow into the little tube.

  1. It would be cheaper to just stop letting illegal aliens into the country. Those central Americans don't think anything is wrong with DUI. and they don't buy new cars.

    1. Bingo! The free local paper publishes the names of all DUI arrests. There are always more Hispanic names than the rest of the list. Hispanics only make up about 11% of the counties population.

    2. When we lived in Gwinnett County, Ga where Spanish was the first language at Wal-Mart and AutoZone, almost every hit and run or other crime in the paper was with a Hispanic name.

Call the new devices Pelosi dick.

  3. From 2020. When jack booted ones shut down everything except for the elites like Newsom’s dinner party or Nancy’s hair dresser appointment when everyone else did without. That data isn’t biased at all. FFS

  4. And yet, no push for blocking cell phone calls in a moving vehicle.

  5. " Lots of kids are going to be making 5 bucks to blow into the little tube" - Which will then spawn mandatory DNA registration - it's not a slippery slope anymore - it's a precipice.

    1. And techno-geeks are going to make even more money by bypassing the blow-meter permanently at $50 a pop.

  7. I've bought my last vehicle, 35yrs ago. My 57 Chevy will last me out. And this will be the last year I'll need a truck to pull the boat.

  8. If there is an accident and someone is DUI then that person is at fault even if they are not the one committing the vehicle infraction. So I dont think there will the decline they expect. And I expect they dont care. I need the patent the accessory to put over the blowing device such as penis, gun.

  9. This might be a bridge too far. They can have everyone blow into a tube every time they start their car or they can sense the air in the car for traces of alcohol. I don't think the the first will go over very well. The second, so much for being a designated driver.

  10. My next vehicle I purchase will be from before 1989. No computers, no location signals, no tracking of miles, and now no blowing on a tube or air sensor. I'm thinking of a '76 Toyota FJ-40 as a bug out vehicle. Q- Will it with stand an EMP?

    1. Short answer, no. But the parts needing replaced after an emp are minimal (diode trio, or entire spare alternator, and ignition module.) These could be kept in a faraday cage for when needed.

  11. if they would stop regulating everything and just hang the DUI-related manslaughter , live would be ok. Fear of the law worked use to work.

  12. The conversation went like this,
Me: what percentage of crashes involve a person who had too much to drink?
    Instructor: approximately 10%.
Me: and what percentage of crashes involve both drivers being drunk?
    Instructor: approximately 1%.
Me: so 99% of accidents involve sober drivers? But you want to claim alcohol is the problem?
Yes, I really pulled that one.
