SACRAMENTO -- More than 100 members of Congress signed a letter to President Biden calling for him to crack down on homemade ghost guns.

  1. I'd ask what part of the Constitution do they not understand, but I'm pretty sure it's all of it. I'm also sure they hate any part they do understand.

    1. I think that they have a very strong understanding of the Constitution. Know thy enemy, as they say.

  3. These morons have no fucking clue. Holding manufacturers accountable for ghost guns? Like manufacturers are making glost guns... Another pointless exercise for political cred.

  4. Serial numbers on firearms rarely solve and certainly never prevent violent crimes.

Question: What is the difference between a firearm made by someone without a serial number today, the potentially millions already made and in circulation, and firearms made prior to the GCA of 1968 without a serial number?

    Answer: Not a fuckin' thing!

Question: Which of the non-serialized firearms is more dangerous?

Answer: ALL FIREARMS ARE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS

Most serial number traces only find the original purchaser from a licensed dealer.

  5. Are the good congressman and his ilk (on his BS taskforce) so impotent that they lack the courage of their resolve (and authority) to write a law, send it to the Senate in hopes that it will pass and be signed by the (p)Resident? That’s how things work in this country. The Constitution exists to prevent tyranny by the executive with procedures laid out for the legislative branch that are subject to constitutional review (and vacation) by the Judiciary. Serial numbers were not a thing in 1787. Even if they had been, the language of the 2nd Amendment, being beautifully absolute, would absolutely prevent the government from infringing on the rights of the citizens of this nation. This argument is nothing more than a postmodern solution in search of a non-problem being criminally pursued by anarchists and morons.

    1. Easy solution to this whole gun fiasco: Respect the 2d Amendment with no restrictions on firearms. But, use a firearm in the commission of a felony and get mandatory life imprisonment or the death penalty (if someone dies or is severely injured). The crimes and circumstances for mandatory imprisonment or death penalty have to be specifically defined with examples. So, if Jarmel robs the local liquor store and he would normally get 10 years if it were a strong arm robbery or by passing a note, he gets life if he uses a pistol. A felon in possession of a firearm is another crime that I'd give mandatory life in.prison for with the felonies specifically defined.

Many, (illegally) already have stingers and javelins and shaped charge anti-tank weapons that will defeat reactive armor, and a few even have sophisticated sidelobe cancelling radar, but these are in trustworthy hands and would only be used in extreme emergency (attacked by foreign power or in a true civil war or in a Warsaw ghetto situation), and NEVER in the commission of a crime.

Everyone that I know has non-violent firearms that do not commit "gun violence." In fact, these firearms are well cared for, they go to the range often, and are cleaned and oiled after each use and put back in the gun safe. I say a well cared for firearm makes a happy firearm that won't shoot up a school or a bodega in New York City all by itself.

The media here is out of control. It is NEVER the criminal's fault, but rather the fault of the gun and EVERY new article on the subject blames the weapon. They recently busted a dentist here in New York for merely having ghost guns. I say "so what," and if I were on the jury, I would vote to acquit. What will probably happen is a productive individual earning $300+K a year and paying $100K of that in taxes (Federal and State) will have his earning capacity reduced to zero, and "we the people" will be paying to lock him up to the tune of $70K per year.

Criminal reform should also involve getting rid of the country club prisons and replacing them with dungeons where the spending per prisoner is closer to $5K a year. Prison is supposed to be a punishment, not a 5-year vacation.

So, the bottom line is if a gent wants to buy (or make) a firearm or anything that can be considered "arms" covered by the 2A, the only thing stopping him should be his wife. "You DON'T need another gun; I don't care if it is a good deal or shoots better or....., you don't need it!!!"

    2. Most states already have mandatory enhancements for firearm use in the commission of a felony.

Problem is that most prosecutors drop said enhancements in order to get a plea deal.

How about 'Commit any crime with force mandatory 20 years, Injury 40 years, Death equals Death or Life without Parole, and no ability by prosecutors to plea down the charges.'?

  6. When it comes to civil war, ghost guns and older hand-me-down unregistered guns will out last those that are registered and will be confiscated.

    1. Amen to that. Go ahead and get your government issued permit to carry your gun. Then they will know where to come get it. What us it about " the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." don't they do not understand?

  7. Proving at least 20% of the people elected to Congress are idiots and have no business being there.

    1. Considering that half of the people in Congress are Democrats I believe your 20% number might be just a titch low.

  8. If "crack[ing] down on homemade ghost guns" is such a good idea, why hasn't Congress passed legislation to outlaw so-called ghost guns?

  11. And yet, they won’t go near the 13-year old bangers in Chicago carrying Glocks with the full-auto switch. Why? Coz they figure law-abiding people won’t get into firefights with ATF the way Pookie, Ray Ray, and Clovell would.

  12. Every gun is a ghost gun. Preaching to the choir here I know. Serial/registration numbers are an administrative notation of the legal owner of said firearm. If the owner didn't fire it at or into another person, or themselves, those fancy numbers might as well not exist at all.
