I did a doubletake too If you look really close, the but they're pouring in *also* has rebar/reinforcement in it. The two zones are connected/the board under the slide doesn't go all the way to the ground. Check the bottom right of the photo (not all the way right...next to the board that crosses underneath the slide) and you'll see the rebar grid.
