"It's that whole 8th Amendment thing, Judge"

MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee County judge has refused to lower the bail on a 10-year-old accused of fatally shooting his mother after she wouldn't buy him a virtual reality headset.

The boy's attorney argued during his initial court appearance Wednesday that the bail should be lowered from $50,000 to $100.

"He told us about piggy banks with savings that he had from gifts, from birthday gifts, and scavenging through cushions through the couch that he's been able to save up," said Angela Cunningham, a public defender.

  1. The first victim of anti-headsetism.
He should change his gender and he'll be released.

  4. Why have any bail at all? Why charge him with a crime at all? The woman can't be very dead since she was shot by a 10 year old, right? ... Right?

  5. Not that we needed it, but further proof that the time out generation did not produce the respectful people the ass beating generation did.

  8. Is this a “guess the race” situation? Regardless, terrible thing to have happened.

    1. Probably his grandmother. And probably she's decided that the only thing wrong with the ass-beating generation was that they weren't beat hard enough...

  10. When I was 10, we were concerned with what time we would meet at the school baseball or football field in the summer to play pickup games. In winter time, we would meet with our snowmobiles and head out to the boonies and try and find places that we had never been before. That was not easy to do, even at that age.
When we got older, like 12, we were small game hunting in season, or fishing, or swimming at the dam in town, trying to find things left at the bottom of the dam from the lumber era, like pike pole ends and such.
The thought of killing our parents for not buying us anything at all would never even cross our minds, not even in a storybook. You hate to say it, but this mom did not seem to have been much of a parent to this waste of DNA. And she is a perfect reason that some people should be taught to lock their guns up when they have young hellions in the home.

  13. "After the shooting, the boy said he was awakened by his mother at 6 a.m." No editor at the newspaper, I presume.
