ReplyDeleteFar too many years ago, I wrote a paper for a poli-sci class in which I argued that the way to end the homeless problem in the US wasn't to institutionalize the homeless, but to conduct summary executions after a brief hearing. Most of these people are known to the authorities, and frankly no one would miss them. The professor didn't agree with me, but he gave me an "A" for a well thought out essay. Some Chinese and Asian cities have taken this approach, and I had citations at the end of the essay, written long before the rise of the internet.
