A famed Black Panther who's also a communist has faced calls to pay reparations after discovering her ancestors were white puritans who arrived in the US on the Mayflower.
Angela Davis, 79, was flabbergasted to discover both sides of her family were white, and that her mom's ancestors were slave owners, on PBS show Finding Your Roots.
Angela Davis should have rotted in prison. Instead they laud her with awards and professorship, celebrating her existence.
But this bit is especially schadenfruedy, perhaps worse than rotting in prison.
What with her many connections to CA, and that state calling for reparations, I wonder if now they'll slower their roll into deeper stupidity. I mean, imagine the free-for-all in examing the ancestry of the payees and payers alike. What a hoot that some darkie would pay to some whitey because of who their ancestors were.
Meanwhile, I'm 2nd gen American. All my ancestors were Swedish and white Russians, except for one Irish woman great grand pappy fetched back to Sweden. I don't owe anyone squat.
What an insult to her proud and courageous ancestors. I doubt there is a black in America without white blood running through their veins. She's a pig.
There's a video out there somewhere of the interviewer putting a list of Mayflower passengers in front of her, and then pointing out her ancestor on the manifest. Her reaction is pretty priceless.
The Irish were very discriminated against in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, yet their descendants are never heard demanding reparations. I wonder why that is.
My wife traced her family from Ireland. Indentured servants. They lived a horrible life. Once freed they worked the Erie Canal and settled in Ohio. Her father Army Corps was on Saipan in WWII. She wears a tee shirt with the logo in his honor. Her family was treated like garbage but gave so much to go on and become proud Americans.
My father was Tom Collins (seriously). His mother was Ruth O'Hara. She came from Cork County, Ireland. Dad's dad was a drunk and soon disappeared, but Dad and his mom worked hard and both lived a good life in America. They never complained about unfair treatment from their fellow Americans, they just put their nose to the grindstone and ended up becoming successful participants of the American dream.
Elmo, re: we know why no one else is asking for "reparations" is because no one has been telling generations of them that they are victims, not responsible for their lot in life or anything they do, it is all because of another group and there is nothing they can do about it. The hate most blacks have for white folks is beyond pale and the results of all that envy, and hate pumped into them all their lives. This country would have been a lot better off without the likes of Sharpton, Ben Crump, Van Jones, and others that only stir up resentment.
Since slave owners copulated freely with their slaves, I'm guessing pretty near 100% of African Americans whose families did not immigrate to America after the Civil War have slave owner ancestors. Pay up, racially guilty descendants!

I'm shocked you all are picking on cousin Angela that way. I didn't watch the show (my wife did) but I suspect that our common ancestor, William Brewster, would be less than thrilled with Angela's antics. Afterall, he was the group's spiritual leader, a very solid Christian man.
