Tweekers go straight for the source

CENTRAL, Mich. (FOX 2) - An abandoned mine in northern Michigan reentered the news cycle recently after three thieves were nabbed for trying to steal hundreds of pounds of copper.

  1. I've been in several of the mines up there, usually before football games when we weren't free-climbing the cliffs around them.

Of course the one with the slap on the wrist is the one with a rap-sheet starting at pre-teen.

After the die-off/great reset/recalibration, there's enough elemental copper left up there to build whatever new copper devices that are needed.

    1. Oh, the guy not going yo jail is married to a first cousin.

It's like Appalachia but colder since the mines shut down in 1954.

  2. I was camping on the UP when there were a series of thunderstorms. There were as many lightning strikes as anywhere in FLA during summer. Locals said that's because of so much iron and copper in the ground up there.
It was neat watching strikes every few seconds here or there.

  3. They're abandoned mines. Aside from the trespassing, why would anyone care? Entrepreneurs, I say!

    1. Why would anyone care? For a few reasons! 1) They're trespassing, 2) if they get injured or killed, they or their survivors will sue the mining company/land owner, 3) and most of all, IT AIN'T THEIRS! They can keep their fuckin' hands off of what does not belong to them.
